چکیده

A fully relativistic time-dependent close-coupling method is developed based on Dirac’s covariant formulation of quantum mechanics. The expansion of a one-electron wave function in spin-orbit eigenfunctions yields the well-known coupled Dirac equations in two radial wave functions, while the expansion of a twoelectron wave function in coupled spin-orbit eigenfunctions yields close-coupled Dirac equations in four radial wave functions. The time-dependent Dirac equations are solved directly using numerical methods that avoid the Fermi doubling pathology. Test calculations are carried out using the one-electron coupled equations for j= 1 2 elastic potential scattering from Ne 9+ at 2.00 keV and using the two-electron close-coupled equations for J=0,1 ionization of Ne9+ at 4.15 keV.

Electron-impact double ionization of B+

Time-dependent close-coupling and time-independent distorted-wave methods are used to calculate the electron-impact double-ionization cross section for the 1s22s2 ground configuration of the B+ atomic ion. The direct double-ionization cross section is calculated using the non-perturbative close-coupling method between the direct double-ionization threshold of 63.1 eV and the 1s ionization thres...

Single photoionization of highly charged atomic ions including the full electromagnetic-field potential

A previous fully relativistic time-dependent close-coupling method [Phys. Rev. A 81, 063431 (2010)], developed to study the photoionization of highly charged atomic ions, is substantially modified to include the full electromagnetic-field potential. Expansion of a one active electron wave function for the time-dependent Dirac equation in spin-orbit eigenfunctions yields close-coupled equations ...

Fourier transform method of calculating total cross sections using the time-dependent close-coupling theory

The calculation of total integral cross sections for electron-impact ionization of atoms and atomic ions has, in the last 8 years, greatly benefited from the development of several nonperturbative methods, which generally show very good agreement with each other and with experiment. For the electron-impact ionization of hydrogen, the convergent close-coupling @1#, the hyperspherical close-coupl...

Electron-impact ionization of H_2^+ using a time-dependent close-coupling method

The first application of the time-dependent close-coupling method to electron– molecule scattering is used to calculate electron-impact ionization cross sections for H2. The time-dependent Schrödinger equation for the sixdimensional wavefunction is reduced to a set of close-coupled equations on a four-dimensional numerical lattice in (r1, θ1, r2, θ2) centre-of-mass spherical polar coordinates. ...

Electron-impact double ionization of H−

Electron-impact double ionization cross sections for H− are calculated using a non-perturbative time-dependent close-coupling theory. The total wavefunction for the three-electron system is represented by a coupled channels expansion involving simple products of three-dimensional radial lattices and six-dimensional coupled spherical harmonics. Following time evolution of the total wavefunction ...
